Autumn has arrived (hurrah!) and it's time for the flurry of autumn wedding fairs! The first of which, for me was THE Wedding Fayre at Copdock Hall – which I packed my portfolios and frames up for yesterday, and then took them along to show the visiting bride and groom-to-bes.
Copdock Hall is a stunning, Tudor barn set in beautiful Suffolk countryside. Couples who get married at the venue get exclusive use of the barn and facilities with access to the adjacent Bridal room (the perfect space to get ready and have a bit of 'calm' time amidst an overwhelming wedding day). It really is such a pretty venue!
I was lucky enough to have my stand in the Bridal room, which I shared (we liked to say 'exclusively') with Beverley from Henley Flowers. I hadn't met Beverley properly before, but we had such a lovely time exhibiting our services alongside each other – she's really lovely and her bouquets and floral arrangements are absolutely stunning! She had some particularly lovely table displays that included succulents and ornamental cabbages.
My ever so obliging other half Tom was on hand to help me unload the car (and pack it up afterwards) and set everything up to create an eye-catching display. I have finally got the 'quick build' down to a fine art...I have been known to take hours and hours setting up on the past for some of the larger shows!
I really enjoyed the day, meeting lots of smiley bride and groom-to-bes – all at different points of wedding planning. I spoke to a number of people who said that they'd never seen anything like my illustrations before, and that they really liked them. The fingerprint tree illustration I had on my large easel was a particular favourite of the day.
As usual I tried to speak to as many of the other local wedding suppliers exhibiting at the fayre as I could (in any spare time I had between chatting to visitors). I really like meeting other people who work in the industry, and as I do more and more local wedding shows, I am beginning to bump into more and more familiar faces at each event – which is really nice.
Sharon (of THE Wedding Fayre) and her team looked after us all day long, keeping us topped up with coffee, biscuits and Sharon's homemade cake! The lemon drizzle was amaaazing (and just what I needed towards the end of the day)...delicious!
Thank you to everyone that took an interest in what I could do for your wedding. I love hearing all about everyone's different wedding plans. Everyone's wedding is so individual and personal to them, and it delights me when I am asked to be involved in creating something to reflect you! I hope to work with you soon.
