Did you watch the National Television Awards last night? I did!
I am a self confessed telly addict, and it's great to see credit given where credit is due for some of the excellent programs on our television screens today. I also love seeing how all the seemingly 'ordinarily-dressed' daytime TV presenters and soap characters, scrub up for a stroll down the red carpet. They all look amazing!
I am not ashamed to say that I regularly have ITV's This Morning playing in the background (in a teeny, tiny popup window on my computer screen) whilst I create my illustrations. Believe it or not, I have always worked like this ever since I was a school girl. I was a rather studious child (some say 'geeky'), and diligently sat down to do my homework every night after school – always with the tv playing quietly in the room. I must admit, I never select particularly heavy-going programs, but I do find that light-hearted background chatter focuses me, and I can really channel my thoughts into what I am doing. I also have a long-standing girl crush of one of the show's presenters – Holly Willoughby. I think she is great and always looks immaculate and so beautifully dressed. Often I can be caught swooning over her 'daily look' on her Instagram account – @hollywilloughby. I have for quite some time, been meaning to create some illustrations inspired by her studio style.
With the aforementioned in mind, when I tuned in to watch the NTAs last night, I looked forward to seeing what Holly was wearing to the ceremony. Her chosen gown (a curve-hugging, pink dress by bespoke tailor, Samuel Dougal), did not disappoint. I think she looked incredibly elegant and I love the old-Hollywood glamour she channeled, with her pin-curled hair and stripped back accessories. Flawless!
Please take a look at my interpretation of her dress and style below and let me know what you think of it.
