Illustrated Wedding Portraits

Whether intended as a private keepsake, or to be used as a theme throughout your wedding stationery, an illustrated portrait is your opportunity to be as fanciful and offbeat as your imagination will allow.

Depict a real scene, or fabricate something make-believe; it’s your personality we’re trying to capture!

Go beyond traditional wedding themes with an illustration that reflects your true-selves.

Re-create a moment

(that would have been impossible at the time)

Give the gift of paper

The perfect first-anniversary gift (paper), an illustrated wedding portrait is a fabulous way to relive your engagement, wedding day, and even honeymoon.

Combine your favourite memories into a celebratory piece of artwork, incorporating all the details and references that a single photo simply couldn’t convey.

That’s me (in the photo – not the illustration!)

Create a truly unique wedding invitation

Planning a wedding under the stars? I can design your wedding portrait with a scene that depicts your wedding venue.

Incorporate your wedding portrait into a fingerprint tree

A fingerprint tree at a wedding is a lot of fun! I can combine your wedding portrait with a design that suits other aspects of your wedding stationery.

How it works

  1. The first step in commissioning a custom illustration is to tell me your ideas. No photos needed at this stage – just share with me your inspiration.

  2. If you would like to go ahead with the commission, I will take a deposit and book your drawing into my diary.

  3. At this point, I’ll request reference photos that I’ll need to create your illustration. You can send these to me in an email and chat through any specifics. I will draw your wedding portrait before or after your big day, using a collection of the images you send me.

  4. Once I have finished your artwork, I will send you a preview for approval, before progressing to printing and framing (if and as required).

For more information please take a look at the full ordering process.

Wedding Illustration Checklist

Once I have your wedding project booked in, I will need you to send to me the following.

Photographs

  • Photos of the couple to be illustrated. If it isn’t clear from looking at your photos, I may ask you to clarify a few extra details such as your eye colours.

    • If I am doing your illustration before the wedding day, I will ask you to provide me with enough references so that I can compile the artwork from them (dress, suit, flowers, hairstyle, jewellery, venue etc). These can be your photos or links to the subjects online.

  • Photos of items that will be drawn in the background e.g. your wedding venue. A link to a website also works well.

  • Photos or images of anything else you’d like including e.g. your wedding flowers, shoes, etc.

  • Please try to send me clear, high-resolution images, taken in bright, natural light where possible.

Additional details

  • A description of the specific pose that you’d like to be drawn standing in. If you don’t have a preference, I will use my judgement.

  • Wedding colours. It’s good for me to know if you had/have a particular colour scheme for your wedding as I can work this in to your artwork.
