Whilst most of us Brits were sleeping, one of the biggest awards ceremonies of the year was taking place over in California. I am of course talking about the wonder that is Golden Globe Awards.
Of course, applause must go to the fantastic talent who won the awards themselves, but it's always seeing the amazing red carpet gowns that's my favourite bit. This year certainly did not disappoint! From Emma Stone in ethereal Valentino and Blake Lively wearing velvet and Swarovskis, to Natalie Portman's chartreuse homage to Jacqueline Kennedy, I just can't get enough of it. Ahhh the dresses... swoon!
It goes without saying that I just had to choose a dress to draw! It was Thandie Newton's dress for this year's Globes that first most caught my eye. She wore a striking, white, off-the-shoulder design by Monse which had long sleeves and beautiful copper-coloured sequins coming up from the hem. It reminded me of flames and I thought she looked absolutely, flawless wearing it. Opinions are divided over whether or not it looked like a cigarette, but I have to say I disagree. I loved it!
Before I go, I must give a 'hats off' to Claire Foy too. She gave thanks to our very own leading lady, Queen Elizabeth, upon winning 'Best Performance by an Actress' for her role in The Crown. Good work!
